The Cannes Golden Palm 2019 “Parasite” Reached 5 Million Moviegoers In 8 Days

After the highest award at 2019 Cannes Film Festival, the Korean movie Parasite officially opened in its hometown from May 30. After 8 days, the film achieved an impressive result at this film box office with 5 million moviegoers and over 30 billion won in sales.

There are no parasites in the movie, but the title and content are closely linked. 9.09 points is the average score that viewers give to this movie on Cine21. On the movie page Naver in Korea, it also reached 9.21 points.

Recently, the behind the scenes of the film was revealed and shared by the director, actors and other members of the film crew. Each scene is carefully scrutinized and calculated to create the most realistic setting.

The film tells the story of two families in opposite classes in Korean society with a closely-resembled relationship. Ki-taek (by Song Kang Ho) is the husband and the father of the failed family. On the opposite side, the owner of the upper family is Director Park (by Lee Sun Kyun), the owner of an IT company, and his beautiful wife Yeon-kyo (by Jo Yeo Jung).

Actor Song Kang Ho once again showed that he is the king face of the box office. His character is an unskilled man but has unpredictable actions and thoughts.

The movie is not only the convergence of bright actors from famous names like Song Kang Ho, Lee Sun Kyun, and Jo Yeo Jung, but also attracts viewers by young, passionate faces like Choi Woo Shik and Park So Dam.

Every detail in the movie is focused on by the film crew, from the green light of the fluorescent bulb in Ki-taek’s semi-detached cellar, to the warm golden light of Director Park’s luxury villa.

With very high scores both from homeland and abroad, Parasite is expected to join the “10 million tickets club” in Korea soon.
